The Cincinnati United Soccer Club is honored to announce the expansion of Jamie Starr’s role in our club family. Starr will be the CUP Boys Head Goalkeeper Coach and continue in his role as Director of Goalkeeping for the CUP Boys DA.
“We at Cincinnati United are so fortunate to have such an amazing goalkeeper, educator and coach as Jamie Starr. His experience in professional, college and youth soccer coaching makes him an outstanding addition to our CUP staff,” stated CU Executive Director Scott Rodgers.
Club President Dan Kunkemoeller also expressed his excitement, saying, “Jamie has been a great leader in the Cincinnati soccer community for some time now. His experience and vision for developing a goalkeeper will make an immediate and lasting impact on our CUP Boys goalkeepers.”
A 1998 graduate of and four-year letter-winner at the University of South Carolina, Starr served as a graduate assistant at USC during the 1998 season. He helped train the USC goalkeepers, including Chicago Fire MLS Cup MVP keeper Henry Ring. Starr also coached as a member of the University of Tulsa’s staff in 2000.
Along with coaching for CUP, Starr has been the goalkeeper coach for Xavier University Men’s soccer program since 2014. Jamie has worked with some of the best goalkeepers in the history of Xavier soccer:

For the 2015-16 season, Starr served as the goalkeeper coach for FC Cincinnati, training Mitch Hildebrandt.
